Random Island Wiki
Random Island Wiki is a community of volunteers interested in preserving our history

But we can't do it alone. We need your knowledge of Random Island! You may think your info is too insignificant, or that everyone knows it, but it isn't and we don't!
Help us preserve our history, and let the everyone know about all those tidbits! Like, for example, a history of Random Island Integrated/Academy. The Random Island hockey teams I've seen posted on Facebook. I personally had no knowledge of them or that they had existed!
You don't need to know how to edit the site, or feel confident in the written word, just get in touch, and we'll transcribe your info, and give you final sign off and credit. You can use this link to contact us.
Please note, due to spam accounts, registration has been disabled. Please use the email link above to request an account.
Look at the Apsey Brook and Smith pages for a sample idea. Some ideas of things we need follow, but please pass on your suggestions as well, and of course your pictures!
This site is dedicated to the pioneering work of Dr. Wilfred B. W. Martin, who not only provided the inspiration for many of us to delve into our past, but also a wealth of reference material via his several books on Random Island History. Thank you sir.

Friggins Cove Pond, officially Fagan's Pond or Fagan's Cove Pond is large pond near Apsey Brook. It drains into a brook of the same name which contain steadies on its way to a large waterfall or rattle at the shore at Friggins Cove.
In past times the brook from the rattle to the shore was used to power sawmills.
The pond has a large protruding point, named Pinsent's Point, that disguises how large it actually is when seen from the main pathway. According to oral history, the name Fagan was that of someone that built a schooner or got the timber to build a schooner nearby.[1]
At one time, in the 70s and/or 80s, the pond was considered as a water supply for both Apsey Brook and Snook's Harbour, and others. Apparently disputes on who was to receive the water first caused funding to be returned to government, and plans never proceeded.[1]
